Health Alert: More than 4,300 Arkansas residents have lost Medicaid under new work requirements

Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Wednesday announced the number of people dropped from the safety-net health insurance — the first Americans to become ineligible under new rules making work or job preparation a condition of coverage. Critics say the reporting requirements are onerous, especially for such a poor population. The 4,353 individuals, ages 30 to 49, cannot reapply for Medicaid until next year.
