| Mountain lions used to range across the entire continental U.S., but now they are limited to the west coast. Returning these carnivores east of the Mississippi could help maintain entire ecosystems by keeping animals lower down the food chain in check, limiting invasive species, reducing fire danger, boosting biodiversity and even potentially combating climate change. |
