Habemus Legatum
We have an Ambassador!
It is with great pleasure that I congratulate my friend and colleague, Brian Burch, on his long-awaited confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See.
All of us at CatholicVote are proud to say that one of our own is on his way to Rome to represent our nation at the Vatican.
I am amazed at the providence of a Chicago-based ambassador presenting his credentials to a Chicago-born pope and I can't wait to see what God does next through this privileged relationship with the Holy Father.
Thank you for praying for Brian as he has gone through the confirmation process. So many of you have reached out to let us know of your prayers and I ask you to continue them as the Burch family makes the transition to a new life in Italy and as Brian enters into his fascinating and challenging new role.
We also congratulate the members of the United States Senate on their wisdom in confirming Brian's nomination. There is no better man for the job. Upon hearing the news of the final Senate confirmation vote, Brian said:
"I am profoundly grateful to President Trump and the United States Senate for this opportunity to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. I have the honor and privilege of serving in this role following the historic selection of the first American pope. In a remarkable coincidence, or what I prefer to attribute to Providence, Pope Leo XIV is from Chicago, which is also my hometown. The relationship between the Holy See and the United States remains one of the most unique in the world, with the global reach and moral witness of the Catholic Church serving as a critical component of U.S. efforts to bring about peace and prosperity. As a proud Catholic American, I look forward to representing President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Secretary Rubio in this important diplomatic post. I ask for the prayers of all Americans, especially my fellow Catholics, that I may serve honorably and faithfully in the noble adventure ahead."
