A $2.7 billion NASA rover, Perseverance, successfully launched from Florida's Cape Canaveral on a journey to Mars, where it is scheduled to land Feb. 18. The rover, the successor to the still-operating Curiosity rover, was to scour an ancient, dried-up lake bed and use a drill to obtain samples of rock and soil that could later be sent back to Earth for study. |
