Any successful rebuilding will depend on Cyril Ramaphosa being bold — a quality that has not been in any evidence since he became president — and taking on the massive challenges facing the economy.
Perhaps this is what it is to be a civilian caught in war's crossfire: cowed, useless, faced with daily absurdities. But mostly, just waiting — for whatever happens next.
