News Alert: Debate on keeping national parks open during coronavirus pandemic intensifies as NPS confirms 7 employees have tested positive

The fact that the virus is spreading through national parks staff has sparked complaints from many employees, according to several of them. While at least one national park with an infected staffer has closed, Interior Department officials have instructed park superintendents not to disclose individual cases to the media and, for the most part, maintain public access unless they receive approval to close from headquarters.
