Hi, I'm Katy!
Hi yes hello, I'm Katy, an editor on the Shopping team, back yet again to share some of my favorite things — it's almost as if I can't stop shopping and talking about products! Imagine that! I currently live in Manhattan but am originally from Chicago, but yes I do put ketchup on my hot dogs (*hides head in shame*). Photos: Katy Herman unless otherwise noted I am obsessed with all things animals, fashion, pop culture, and Taylor Alison Swift. I'm a firm believer in the Oxford comma and a proud geek — I can't wait to safely get back to cosplaying at conventions. Until then, I guess I'll just have to buy fandom goodies online (as if I don't do that way too much already). Some of my other favorite things to shop for include shoes, statement jewelry, nail polish, and cute decor for my apartment. Somehow, I have managed to narrow down my many current obsessions to a few special picks for you today, so please enjoy! I hope you find something that makes your day. Forwarded This Newsletter?
Think of WANT THIS as your own personal shopper! Each week, we'll have a new BuzzFeed Shopping editor who'll take you behind-the-scenes of what they're loving and what's at the top of their wishlist. WHAT I'M LOVING NOW
ManiMe is a super cool site where you create an account, upload pics of your nails from different angles, and then save them so each gel sticker art order you place is CUSTOM PRINTED to the shape of your nails!!! This cheerful pastel gingham is my favorite so far. There's definitely a learning curve to getting them to fit and stick right, but after doing it a few times you can get your nails looking pretty darn perf — much better than if I tried DIY nail art on my super short fingernails! They come with five extra stickers so you can replace any if you mess up. They can last a decently long time, but sometimes one or two won't adhere as well, and then I just supplement with a matching polish color for a really creative look!
As a writer and a Betsey Johnson devotee, I couldn't resist ordering these adorable pencil bangles in both gold and pink when I saw them. They look so cute stacked together, and are a great, high-quality-feeling weight. I was pleasantly surprised that they fit perfectly, without flopping around on my wrist — the pencil details stay on the top like they're supposed to! They're the perfect quirky touch to any outfit, for era-~sure~ (sorry, I had to). After years in athletic apparel, Revtown's founders decided to take the best parts of workout clothes — think comfort, flexibility and durability — and apply them to denim.
Made from a proprietary blend milled in Italy and infused with the same stuff used in yoga pants, these jeans can do it all. But don't take our word for it — try them for yourself. Revtown jeans are delivered directly to your door, which means no retail markup — just great jeans at a fair price.
After a year of working from home, I finally got one of these, and it was *so* worth the splurge. I had bought a (much) cheaper version that I kept at the BuzzFeed office, and it just didn't work well. This beauty is so smooth, it feels like an actual piece of gym equipment, and there's a little screen that can display your RPM, time, distance, and calories burned. I like to set and stick to a goal for how much pedaling I'm going to do daily, since I am so sedentary writing and editing from my kitchen table all day. This makes it super easy to get my legs moving, and it's fun too! When we eventually return to the office, this will be coming with me. It has been brought to my attention in the past few years that I am not the only millennial who found The Hex Girls, the girl band featured in the 1999 animated masterpiece "Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost," to be a true cultural reset and a formative moment in their childhoods. I credit the lead singer, Thorn, for making me want to grow up and become a badass brunette. She, and all the girls, are feminist icons — I don't make the rules. I absolutely adore this tiny square print of the ladies as they'd probably look if they were playing a music festival in 2021, and it's a perfect addition to the gallery wall-like collage of mini posters and prints that is my bedroom door. Is this the only piece of Hex Girls merch I've bought in the past couple months? No comment.
