Hi, I'm Rachel!
Photos: Rachel Dunkel Once it's safe to do so again, I look forward to shirking absolutely all of my responsibilities to go dancing with my friends 24/7. What can I say? I live in Detroit! The American birthplace of techno! It would be irresponsible of me NOT to go dancing every night once we're all vaccinated.

I could not be more impressed with this perfume from Lavender Clouds and Poetry, a Black woman–owned small business whose fragrance quality and ~aesthetic~ are top-notch. I've been lucky enough to try a few scents, but Dripping Nectar is my current favorite. It's fresh with a hint of sweetness — perfect for spring. I've had a problem lately with perfume giving me a headache, but not this perfume! The packaging is beautiful and the bottle feels luxury-quality. What are we waiting for, let's make Lavender Clouds and Poetry a household name! My coworker Melanie Aman wrote a review of some clips from Chunks and I instantly knew I needed to have one (the brand's excellent name did also contribute to this decision, I can't lie). I'm growing my hair out from a bob and have finally been able to return to putting it up in a claw, the only '90s trend I'm really putting my weight behind. My sad, weak, boring go-to claw I got from a drug store recently snapped in half when I smushed all of my hair into it — traumatic! But this large claw from Chunks is SO strong, I have no fear of breaking it. It's the perfect size for my shoulder-length medium-thick hair, but I know I'll be able to keep wearing it as my hair grows. I also simply want everything I put on my body to be in a loud print, so this fits the bill! I recently started learning how to sew and this All Well Workshop box top pattern has been my ultimate guide. Yes, I've made a top from it, but with the pattern's four base garments, the included "hacking guide," and incredibly thorough and helpful instructions, I was able to make this slightly ruffled two-tone dress! I never in my life thought I would be able to make clothing — especially fun, creative clothing I was actually interested in wearing! — but All Well showed me the way. Whether you're new to the craft or are an experienced sewist, these patterns are a great investment — I've already made three garments from this one and have plans for many more! I got this lil' poster (and a hat and a pin) from Just Okay Co. recently because......it IS always something! This Orlando, FL–based small biz is actually owned by an old friend of mine (hi, Matt!) and I am endlessly impressed by the quality, wit, and plain fun in these products. Having this sunny print in my office is a wonderful reminder that life is absurd and ya just gotta keep wigglin' through it saying "Ain't that the way!" The Just Okay Co. TikTok account is also poppin'!
