At least 26,000 deaths were recorded in recent weeks as the coronavirus continued its assault on the nation's nursing homes, federal data released Monday shows. The numbers represent the first official national accounting of fatalities in 15,000 nursing homes certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The tally, however, is likely to be significantly incomplete.
