We’re counting on the Jewish community’s support to help refugees and asylum seekers stay safe during this global health crisis.
| | Dear Friend, As we reflect on the Passover story of the Jewish people’s flight from Egypt this holiday, we must keep in mind the refugees and asylum seekers fleeing danger and violence around the world today. Right now, refugees are particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic, as many are trapped in overflowing camps without access to clean water or health care. And with countries shuttering non-essential businesses and even locking down borders, many refugees and asylum seekers are unable to access the critical aid they need. The health and safety of displaced families around the world right now depends on HIAS and our ability to help them. That’s why we’ve set a goal to raise $100,000 during Passover in support of our life-saving programs helping refugees. Our work during this time of acute crisis is vital, and your contribution is truly what fuels it: If you're able to help, we're asking you to make a Passover gift today to support our lifesaving work for refugees and asylum seekers. Your support fuels our lifesaving work as we do everything we can to extend a helping hand to refugee communities during this global crisis – whether it’s providing them with food, medicine, and emergency relief, advocating against dangerous living conditions or delivering economic assistance and legal aid remotely to those who need it. HIAS is working around the clock to keep refugees and asylum seekers safe in 16 countries, but we wouldn’t be able to do this work without the backing of our community. Please, if you're able, make a gift this Passover in support of refugees: Give today to help refugees and asylum seekers stay safe and healthy amid this global pandemic as they rebuild their lives in freedom from violence and persecution. Your support truly saves lives. Thank you for everything you do. | | Miriam Feffer Vice President, Development | | | | | | | | | |
