| Welcome. This week: Should you ditch your gas stove? This is one of the columns I'm featuring from the Climate Coach archives while I'm away. Gas stoves, you may have heard, can pose a risk to health and to the planet. Gas-burning stoves emit methane, a planet-warming gas, as well as pollutants that can trigger asthma and other respiratory diseases, especially in children and the elderly. How much are they emitting? I set up sensors to test pollution levels while cooking pasta, burgers and other meals. Read the full column for tips on how to cook safer. I'm also searching for new column topics — and I'd welcome your advice. Please let me know what decisions and trade-offs you're wrestling with in your daily life — related to climate, the environment or more broadly how to lead an ethical life in a time of dramatic change. You can reach me at climatecoach@washpost.com. I look forward to rejoining you at the end of November. Was this email forwarded to you?
