News Alert: Two Americans among three scientists awarded Nobel Prize in chemistry for work on directed evolution

The winners of the 2018 chemistry Nobel were recognized for "harnessing the power of evolution" to create useful new molecules in the laboratory. Frances H. Arnold of Caltech won for the directed evolution of enzymes, and George P. Smith at University of Missouri and Gregory P. Winter of University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom won for a method called "phage display" that steers evolution to create new peptides and antibodies.
