Science News Alert: U.S. launches next-generation weather satellite that will revolutionize forecasting

The GOES-R satellite, which successfully launched from Cape Canaveral this evening, will be able to see hurricanes and blizzards with higher resolution than any other U.S. satellite of its kind. It joins an international network of satellites, the data from which is shared freely between nearly 200 countries.
