An American astrophysicist, Andrea Ghez, a professor at UCLA, was among three scientists awarded the Nobel Prize in physics on Tuesday for her role in discovering a supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. She shared that honor with German astrophysicist Reinhard Genzel and with Roger Penrose, a British theorist cited for his discovery that Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity predicts the formation of black holes. |
