| Welcome to the Weekly Roundup email from Computerworld UK, where we bring you the most important enterprise technology stories of the week and keep you up-to-date on the best job opportunities and industry events happening around the UK. This week saw the chancellor Philip Hammond make his spring statement, which was quite light on technology but did did touch on the issues of high-speed broadband, T-Levels and digital transactions. Elsewhere we are keeping a close eye on the upcoming Dropbox IPO, which looks like it will value the company at $7-8 billion, below its peak of $10 billion in the heady days of 2014. The IPO does give us a window into Dropbox's finances for the first time and allows us to compare it to rivals like Box more accurately for the first time. We updated our comprehensive comparison of the two vendors this week as a result. We also published a talk from the Crossrail contractor Laing O'Rourke about its decision to turn to Nutanix to slash its costs, consolidate data centres and develop a platform for on-site edge computing; and a comprehensive history of cloud computing. Thanks for reading, Scott Carey, Editor, Computerworld UK |
