Evening Edition
The day's most important stories

Nunes-led intelligence panel sought to 'unmask' Americans
Rep. Devin Nunes, who leads the GOP-controlled committee, wanted to reveal the names of several U.S. individuals or organizations in classified intelligence on Russian meddling in the election, according to U.S. spy agencies. That same practice was cast by President Trump as an abuse of powers by the Obama administration.
The Fix: Congress can't decide if the big story is 'unmasking' or the Trump-Russia connections
Let's see what happens if we game out President Trump's request that Congress zeroes in on leaks and "unmasking" over his campaign's connections to Russia.

Privatizing air-traffic control will be focus of Trump's 'infrastructure week'
The president plans events in D.C. and beyond to highlight a key piece of his agenda, including spurring a $1 trillion investment in roads, bridges and waterways.

Nikki Haley: 'President Trump believes the climate is changing'
The U.N. ambassador, directly addressing the question of whether Trump still thinks climate change is "a hoax" on the week he rejected the Paris accord, said he believes humans have a role in Earth's warming.

The Take: Paris withdrawal is the visceral expression of Trump's worldview
The president's decision was cast as a reversal of the economic disadvantages from global treaties that he has railed against for decades.

Their parents doubt global warming. A science teacher wants their kids to see the proof around them.
Idaho's 2014 teacher of the year, who helped establish a year-long outdoor studies program, prods students to investigate and reach their own conclusions about human impact on the environment.

Bill Maher says he is 'very sorry' after uproar over his use of a racial slur on his show
The "Real Time" host's apology came hours after HBO aired his interview with Sen. Ben Sasse, who invited Maher to "work in the fields" of Nebraska. The cable network called the word choice "inexcusable and tasteless" and said the segment would be removed from future airings.

The Fix: Anti-Trump comedians Maher, Griffin and Colbert are having a really bad moment
Their antics — a racial slur, a mock beheading, a homophobic joke — are the exact opposite of the maxim popularized by former first lady Michelle Obama: "When they go low, we go high."

Crowds call for independent probe into Russian role in election of Trump
More than a thousand people gathered near the Washington Monument — and in more than 100 other cities — for the March for Truth. Earlier in the day, a much smaller counterprotest in support of the president unfolded in front of the White House.

At least 15 Afghans killed as multiple blasts target funeral for protester in Kabul
Authorities had urged locals to end anti-government protests because of reports that militants would target any gathering. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blasts.

Why this Virginia Democratic candidate calls Trump a 'narcissistic maniac'
Gubernatorial hopeful Ralph Northam, who is a pediatric neurologist, has made the charge a fixture of campaign ads and on the trail. He's crossed into a heated debate within the medical profession about whether it is appropriate to speculate about the health of public figures.

The Fix | Analysis
Wisconsin Republicans put Trump over the top. Now they’re trying to prove it wasn’t a fluke.
The 2018 U.S. Senate and governor's races will serve as test cases for whether the hodgepodge coalition of Trump voters will fall apart, or signal a political realignment of the state from blue to red.

A man clobbered protesters with a bike lock at a Berkeley rally, police say. The Internet went looking for him.
Posters on the anonymous message boards at 4chan are known for their enthusiasm for identifying people they think have done wrong. Last week, police arrested the masked man they revealed.

Jimmy Carter attends Gregg Allman's funeral
The Southern Rock legend and the former president struck up a friendship during the 1976 campaign. "Gregg Allman was better known than I was at that time," Carter said. Allman's ex-wife, Cher, also attended the services in Georgia.

Md. homeowner checks midnight surveillance video, sees naked man rattling door
"I thought it was a bad dream," the "home-automation junkie" said. Montgomery County police have released the blurred-out footage and are asking for the public's help identifying the would-be intruder.

14 people who ate 'death cap' mushrooms are lucky to be alive
Three people who ingested the California fungi in December needed liver transplants. One of them, an 18-month-old girl, now has permanent neurological damage, according to a federal report.

Disabled America
One family. Four generations of disability benefits. Will it continue?
Rural communities have become familiar with households of multiple generations of people living on disability, though they're little-studied and largely unreported.
