Environment Alert: Trump appointees worked with coal industry in allowing mines that may affect protected crayfish

Top Interior officials, including one who represented West Virginia's coal industry before joining the administration, bypassed the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in forging the 2017 policy. The new guidelines have paved the way for several mines in a habitat occupied by two crayfish species protected under the Endangered Species Act.
