Dirty jobs, thirsty cities and well-kept valves

Tough guys for dirty jobs
Dirt, abrasive and corrosive media won't do them any harm. This wastewater trio works trouble-free in even the harshest operating conditions in wastewater treatment plants, power stations and industrial plants. Acids, lyes, particulate and solid matter make up a cocktail that is not covered by any standard and experience is needed to handle these media. This is precisely where our strength lies: We help you in the selection of suitable materials ranging from the body to the coating, up to the seal.

Mega-thirsty megacities (Part 2)
Alarm in Cape Town! Will its 4 million people soon be without water? Will its 4 million people soon be without water? This is not only an issue in Cape Town – drinking water is in scarce supply in many big cities. Targeted water management is one of the essential ways to solve this problem and VAG offers the know-how and the products needed. Dubai – the United Arab Emirates’ largest city with over 2 million inhabitants – is one example of successful water management:
At the beginning of the 2000's, septic tank emptying service trucks still ran through the city’s streets every night, taking the sewage to an old, overcharged treatment plant outside the city. Meanwhile, the city’s water treatment system has been extensively modernized. Almost 1,500 VAG valves are in operation here.

Anti-aging for valves
Do you get enough exercise? Have a healthy lifestyle? Get regular medical check-ups? If so, your chances are good to stay fit up until old age.
Your valves, too, will benefit from regular check-ups to keep operating smoothly and trouble-free over next couple of decades. Institutions such as the DVGW – the German Association for Gas and Water – recommend regular inspections by specialists. Inspection intervals depend on the frequency of use, for example:

Air valves: once per year
Control valves: once per year
Shut-off valves: every 4-8 years
Hydrants: every 4-8 years

We are your specialists for inspection, maintenance, repair and replacement – also for valves made by other manufacturers. Tips for higher operational reliability and a longer service life are included, of course.
