Senate leaders, including Mitch McConnell, have called on Moore to step aside. He hasn't yet — and that could produce collateral damage for the GOP heading toward the 2018 midterms.
Alabama resident Leigh Corfman said that in 1979, when Moore was an assistant district attorney, he brought her to his home and touched her sexually. Three other women said that Moore – now a candidate for U.S. Senate -- pursued them when they were teenagers and he was in his early 30s.
The former prosecutor and judge said in a radio interview with Sean Hannity that he did not recall such encounters and said such behavior would be inappropriate. Two Republican senators withdrew their support for Moore after the interview.
