SATURDAY, MAY 10 - POPE WATCH POPE LEO XIV EXPLAINS NAME CHOICE IN FIRST MEETING WITH CARDINALS  Pope Leo XIV began his first formal meeting with the College of Cardinals today by leading a "Pater noster" and an "Ave Maria" in Latin. He went on to deliver prepared remarks, which included an explanation of his decision to take the name Leo — a deliberate and direct homage to Pope Leo XIII. READ POPE LEO'S FIRST PILGRIMAGE OUTSIDE THE VATICAN  Pope Leo made his first journey outside the Vatican today, a surprise pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Genazzano, Italy. Located about 30 miles southeast of Rome, the shrine has been a center of Marian devotion for centuries.
