Remember when we all got really into sea shanties?

It's Friday! Rejoice! This week — much like all of 2023 — seemed to slip right by. Can you believe we've already endured about 800 TikTok trends, a slew of Twitter drama, and at least ten hacks/recipes/crafts we saw online, tried, and failed at? Me neither. Anyway, here are my favorite things on the internet right now, from *that* cringey interview to letting fate decide our food. Enjoy! ✨

Sometimes Science Is Wrong

A BBC tweet is rapidly taking the internet by storm by quite literally creating a storm of online hate. It basically references a scientific study that says the pandemic only "minimally" had an impact on our mental health. *Stares into the camera, à la "The Office"*. Many had receipts to prove quite the opposite, from that week we were all singing sea shanties to the silly things we did to keep busy. Others are slamming the study for its validity. I'm going to go ahead and say the kids (and us) are definitely not alright.

Get Your Heelys On

You remember Heelys, right? The shoes/roller skates we all wanted as a kid? Well, I'm absolutely dying at this viral TikTok of someone finally getting to try them and maybe realizing it was a mistake. It seems I'm not alone, since the video's racked up almost 9 million views in two days. Between the hilarious sounds as they skate into the splits to the equally-as-funny comment section, I have this video on repeat.

Cole's Going Up In Smoke

Cole Sprouse (of "Riverdale" and Disney Channel fame) recently went on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast and a clip of the interview — in which Cole smokes a cigarette *indoors* — has gone viral for the way it gave people the ick. But it also just became a funny meme for people to feel ~fake fancy~, like when they're ordering a pastry or when kids fake smoke with any cigarette-shaped object they can find. The interview itself had interesting tidbits, but it's safe to say the cigarette was the smoking gun of this interview.

Roll The Dice

I've been invested in the TikTok series "Roll for Sandwich" since it began and it's easy to see why: it's a fun, gamified way to see what to have for lunch! Using Dungeons & Dragons dice, @adventuresinaardia rolls through breads, mains, roughage, and sauce to craft sometimes-delicious and sometimes-horrifying creations. But I've also noticed a bunch of spin-offs popping up on TikTok lately, like roll for sushi, barbecue, and cereal. Or even roll for latte, where I learned that soy sauce actually makes coffee taste better. The more you know!
