LOOP: Democratic leaders and media accused of inciting riots

TUESDAY, JUNE 10 DEMOCRATIC OFFICIALS, MEDIA ACCUSED OF FOMENTING RIOTS Democratic lawmakers and major media figures are facing backlash for downplaying — and in some cases inciting — the violent anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) riots that erupted in Los Angeles June 6. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT., dismissed the riots as "pretty small," while accusing Trump of deliberately provoking a confrontation for political gain. Most controversially, Murphy simultaneously called on the public to "be on the streets."  READ DEM GOVERNORS NATIONWIDE CONDEMN EFFORT TO STOP RIOTS  All of the nation's Democratic governors are supporting California Gov. Gavin Newsom in his condemnation of Trump's decision to deploy the state's National Guard to quell the violent anti-ICE protests in LA. "President Trump's move to deploy California's National Guard is an alarming abuse of power," the governors claimed in a statement.  READ WASHINGTON BISHOPS MOVE TO STOP ANTI-CATHOLIC LAW  Washington's Catholic bishops filed a motion June 5 in federal court seeking a preliminary injunction to block a new law — set to go into effect July 27 — that would require priests to report child abuse if a penitent discloses it in the confessional.  READ TRUMP ON RIOTS: 'IF THEY SPIT, WE WILL HIT'  Trump officials yesterday held firm to the administration's efforts to put down the riots in California. "The Insurrectionists have a tendency to spit in the face of the National Guardsmen/women, and others," Trump stated. "IF THEY SPIT, WE WILL HIT, and I promise you they will be hit harder than they have ever been hit before. Such disrespect will not be tolerated!"
