Ahhh, sweet sweet Friday. Meteorological spring might be here, but winter gloom is still keeping me inside and glued to my beloved screens. If you're planning to do the same, here's what you need to catchup on ~online~. Enjoy! ✨
If you're not sure what a capybara is, you must have missed the viral videos of them bathing years ago that had us all saying "wish that were me." Now, they're back to take over the internet with a viral song that's getting stuck in our heads. It's easy to see why: the song is catchy af and capybaras are the sweet, wholesome animals we all want to pet IRL. Except, they're also apparently really badass? Who knew. If you're not on capybara TikTok, it's time to go binging.
Fast food hacks come and go online, but a recent viral video for a McDonald's nugget upgrade has me very intrigued. The video comes from Japan where — like pretty much every food there — the McDonald's is living in 3023, but our American version looks pretty good. Nuggets are shaken (like a salad) with the sauce inside its own box, basically creating boneless saucy wings at home. With 3.2 million views in only two days, it's obvious I'm not the only one who just got hit with a craving.
One of the best outcomes of the internet being invented is that we get access to local little fails from every corner of the world. Like this person, who hired a local photographer to make a video for their baby's baptism and ended up with.......this. While it *definitely* was not worth the $400 they paid, it's objectively hilarious(ly bad) and people ironically want to hire the photographer to make similar videos of their weddings, births, etc.
Beauty filters have been around since Instagram and Snapchat took over the world, so it makes sense that TikTok isn't exempt from offering them. The latest one, dubbed "Bold Glamour" is especially realistic — completely transforming your face. Despite its uncanny valley-ness, it's proved popular, with almost 10 million videos and over 256 million views. But some are questioning the harmful nature of these filters, with one New Zealand anchor even going viral for taking her makeup off onscreen to protest the impossible expectations.
