For those who aren't in the know, H Mart is a supermarket chain that dishes out a ton of Asian food. Instead of an "exotic" or "foreign" aisle at a vanilla supermarket, H Mart has a ton of Korean finds and K-beauty as well! Zauner's aptly titled book is such a unique perspective growing up in a mixed household and trying to balance these two, at times, irreconcilable worlds.
I read this a 2 - 3 years ago, but it's basically a dystopian thriller set against the backdrop of the Chinese Cultural Revolution that engulfed China back in the late 1960s. It's pretty hardcore stuff, but a good book if you're into sci-fi, aliens, and politics!
This collage of essays penned by Wang, might be a successor to her op-ed piece that she published a while back on BuzzFeed News! Written by a former Stanford lab researcher, it's a good book for those interested in learning more about mental health and wellness!
Chung's book of being adopted by her Korean parents, and growing up in Oregon is a great synopsis of the intersection of race and heritage in the U.S. It's a fab read for anyone looking to get insight on life as an adoptee and the many challenges inherent with that.
Bachan's is the real thing: Made of non-GMO soy sauce, organic ginger, organic garlic, green onion, and more. It's a perfect complement from pizza to eggs, and everything in between!
