| Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced the department would allow oil and gas leases in 82 percent of the 23 million acre National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, overturning protections President Joe Biden finalized last year. The department will also reinstate a program to allow drilling in the 1.56 million acre Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the country's largest preserve of its kind. |
