Why is the engagement ring worn on the fourth finger of the left hand?
The ring finger was astrologically linked with wealth and influence. In ancient times, the ring finger was thought to contain a vein that connected directly to the heart.
The number four was lucky in ancient Greece, so brides wore the ring on their fourth finger. Most people were right-handed, so this prevented rings from getting scratched and/or dirty from activity.
