| Thompson, chief executive of the Minnesota-based insurance giant, was shot and killed on Wednesday morning outside a hotel in Midtown Manhattan where he was scheduled to attend an investor conference. Police said they believed the 50-year-old was targeted. The shooting sparked a manhunt that spread beyond New York after police found evidence the shooter left the city on a bus shortly after the killing. |
