Why hello there, it's Kent Babb here. In March, we may have crossed paths when I profiled LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey. If you like that story, it's clear you are interested in thoughtful, deeply reported journalism that explores humanity, complicated topics and why things are the way they are — even in sports. Which means you should read Grievance Games, a new series by my friend and colleague Jerry Brewer about sports in America and its omnipresent crossover with politics and social issues. I kind of doubt it was ever true that sports was this last bastion of unity, but it's definitely just one more battleground in 2024. And it's a subject Jerry has thought about for much of his life, and he has put his heart and soul into this incredible look at our current sports landscape. |
