The president told Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Friday that he will reduce the 1.35-million-acre protected area in southwest Utah that is prized by many tribal leaders but opposed by several state and federal Republican officials. Zinke said the boundaries of Bears Ears should be pared back and that Congress should make less-restrictive designations within it. |
